Bring your clinical judgment to the front line of complex, time-sensitive care with UVA Health's Interventional Radiology team. This is an opportunity to play a central role in evaluating, coordinating, and preparing patients for urgent and emergent image-guided interventions within a nationally respected academic health system. As an Advanced Practice Provider in Interventional Radiology, you will focus less on performing procedures and more on consultation, triage, patient assessment, and multidisciplinary care coordination. You will work across inpatient and ambulatory settings, caring for patients from newborns through older adulthood while partnering closely with IR attendings, APPs, residents, fellows, and specialty teams. The Role Your day will center on managing the IR consult service and helping determine the safest, most appropriate pathway for patients whose conditions may require rapid intervention. You will combine advanced assessment skills, pattern recognition, and clear communication to move patients efficiently from consultation through procedural readiness. In this role, you will:
This opportunity is especially well suited for an NP or PA with experience in surgical, procedural, emergency medicine, internal medicine, critical care, ICU, or other acute care environments. Direct IR experience can be valuable, but strong foundational clinical skills, adaptability, and comfort managing complex consultations are equally important. You will join a supportive APP team with a robust onboarding experience, regular access to attending physicians, ongoing mentorship, and structured development conversations. As your expertise grows, you will progress toward independently managing consult workflows, patient evaluations, and pager responsibilities while remaining connected to an experienced multidisciplinary team. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $124,845.00 - $178,089.60 annually.
