Speech Language Pathologist- Clinical Supervisor, Communication Sciences and Disorders Graduate Program and Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services

The M.Ed. in communication sciences and disorders (CSD) program consists of both academic preparation and clinical training. Both components are focused on developing the knowledge and skills needed for a career as a practicing speech-languagepathologist (SLP). Clinical Supervisors work within The Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services, a multidisciplinary clinic that provides personalized assessment and intervention services. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality science-based clinical services to the people of Charlottesville, the UVA community, Albemarle County, the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond.

This individual will work as part of the Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Supervisor team in the trans-disciplinarySheila C. Johnson Centerfor Clinical Services (SJC) to provide clinical care and clinical training, supervision and education to graduate student clinicians in the Master's Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, as the clinician of record for direct services to community clients. Opportunities for development of disorder- specific therapy programs and specializations are available.

Responsibilities

• Delivery of high quality, evidence-based evaluation and intervention services to clients (and their families)
• Provide high quality and current clinical education, supervision and training to graduate students within the university-based clinic (SJC)
• Evaluate and treat clients within at least one of the following areas of clinical practice: neurogenic and cognitive communication disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), stuttering, pediatric speech sound disorders, developmental language disorders and neurodevelopmental differences.
• Recruit new client populations and develop new specialty programs for clinical training

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Experience: 6 months relevant experience
• Licensure: Licensed to practice Speech-Language Pathology from the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology required. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of clinical experience practicing speech-language pathology
• General knowledge of Microsoft office productivity software (Excel, Outlook, Word) and mobile technology (e.g., iPad)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
• Virginia License to practice Speech-Language Pathology (or meet eligibility requirements for licensure)
• A minimum of two hours of professional development in the area of clinical instruction/supervision after earning the CCC before being eligible
• Experience providing clinical supervision to in-training or early-career SLP's in a clinical practice setting (e.g., school, outpatient, medical or university training clinic)
• Experience providing high-quality, evidence-based evaluation and intervention services to clients and their families
• Experience with clinical education and providing hands-on training in ways that foster growth and meet individual, adult learning needs
• Clinical experiences as an SLP serving individuals across the lifespan and in multiple disorder areas

Physical Demands

Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, humidity, heat, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.

Salary Range

• The anticipated hiring range is $77,000-$89,000, commensurate with education and experience.
