The Cybersecurity Awareness Specialist is responsible for delivering and continuously improving the organization's security awareness and training program. This role plays a critical part in reducing human cyber risk by educating employees at all levels on cybersecurity best practices and translating complex security concepts into clear, actionable guidance. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and critical thinker with hands-on experience in cybersecurity awareness, training, or information security, and the ability to influence behavior through effective education, communication, and metrics. Key Responsibilities * Develop, deliver, and continuously improve engaging cybersecurity awareness and training programs for employees across the organization * Create and present compelling cybersecurity content and presentations (virtual and in-person) * Translate technical cybersecurity concepts (e.g., phishing, ransomware, MFA, data protection) into clear, easytounderstand language for nontechnical audiences * Manage and support security awareness platforms and learning management tools * Analyze training results and user behavior data to generate meaningful metrics, insights, and reports * Continuously refine training content based on metrics, emerging threats, and organizational risk priorities * Partner with IT, Security, HR, and Compliance teams to align training with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements * Support cybersecurity campaigns and awareness initiatives (e.g., phishing simulations, Security Awareness Month) Qualifications * 2-5 years of experience in cybersecurity awareness, information security, training, or a related role * Demonstrated experience training employees at multiple technical skill levels * Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with the ability to work independently * Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a teamoriented environment Secondary Skills (Nice to Have) * Experience in regulated industries (utilities, energy, finance, healthcare) * Knowledge of compliance frameworks, policies, or risk management concepts * Experience supporting enterprisewide security campaigns or awareness events * Familiarity with adult learning principles or instructional design Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
