The Assistant Music News Editor is a vital member of NPR's digital news team. The successful candidate will serve as NPR Music's daily liaison with NPR's flagship news shows Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and craft the programs' music stories for (please use the apply button below)'s online audience.
The Assistant Editor will also produce, write and edit a variety of music stories for (please use the apply button below), ranging from breaking news to in-depth analysis. A typical day on the job might include writing a news story on a surprise album release, editing a reported piece on Spotify songwriter payments, or producing a musician interview with one of NPR's Morning Edition hosts.
We expect the Assistant Editor to possess a passion for music, a talent for collaboration, and the ability to multi-task. Strong organizational and communication tools will be crucial. Audio production experience is preferred. NPR Music stories often involve working in tandem with other departments at NPR, such as video, data visualization, programming and podcasts.
The Assistant Music News Editor reports to NPR Music's Supervising Editor.
