Truck Driver - Dump Truck/Fuel Truck

Primary Function:

Drive and maintain company owned dump trucks and semi's

Duties include but are not limited to:

* Utilize and drive company trucks for the purpose they were designed for and with knowledge of the unit's capabilities

* Must possess a valid Florida "Class A" or "Class B" Commercial Drivers License and valid medical card.

* Abide by the rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, an office within the Department of Transportation (DOT). Rules and Regulations include pre-employment drug testing, random drug testing, possession of a valid state driver's license, notification to employer of license suspension, revocation or cancellation and agreement to periodic verification of driving record.

* Check with the dispatcher for hauling assignments either in the morning or when all other assignments have been completed. Always check to see if a return haul is available.

* Daily check the fluid levels and grease vehicles, as required. Refuel vehicles at the end of the day and list the quantity of fuel used on your time card and fuel ticket.

* Check the vehicle's fuel system, lubricants, tires, hoses,, and connection fittings for any wear and/or leaks and report any problems to the Shop Superintendent. Call the dispatcher immediately whenever roadside assistance is needed.

* Monitor the service dates of the vehicle driven and notify the Shop superintendent of any service due dates.

* Always pay attention to the sound of the vehicle driven and report any unusual noises or sounds.

* Always drive your vehicle in a safe manner and be on the lookout for any unsafe conditions or overhead wires.

* Pay particular attention when backing the vehicle to ensure the pathway is clear of pedestrians or other vehicles.

* Ensure that back up alarms are in good working order.

* Never wear any music headphones or earbuds and restrict cell phone use while driving.

* Always keep vehicles clean and perform cleaning activities whenever vehicle is idle or sitting.

* Always park vehicles overnight or when not in use in designated locations.

* Inspect vehicles after being loaded and always cover the bed with a tarpaulin prior to entering roadway. Ensure surfaces are clean of rock and debris to avoid dropping on roadways after the vehicle is in motion, i.e. rocks hitting windshields.

* Raise dump beds only on level and sound platforms.

* Verify tare tickets for an accurate description of material hauled and that the weight listed appears accurate.

* Fill out a Truck Drivers timecard after finishing day. List all loading and unloading locations accurately with the time. Attach all tar tickets, service requests and/or any other paperwork accumulated during the day and turn in to the dispatcher.

* Assist the crew during down time performing laborer tasks.

* Update required physical examinations when due.

* Work in accordance with Company Safety Program and bring to the attention of the Foreman any safety violations or concerns.
