The successful candidate:

Paraprofessional caregiver who works under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse. Assumes responsibility and accountability for activities of daily living, certain tests and procedures, environmental duties and other tasks as assigned. Organizes and manages the activity at the nursing desk to support the nursing process and provision of care to the patient. Ensures accurate and timely order entry and the proper notification and coordination of the multidisciplinary team.

Education/Experience Level

* High School Diploma or equivalent.

* Six months prior experience as a Nurse Aide in a health care environment, a second year nursing student, or six months prior experience in a medical setting.

* PCT certification or CNA license required.

* Current BLS and CPR required.

* Training as a Unit Secretary in a hospital or equivalent setting preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

* Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products

* Excellent communication, clerical, organizational, interpersonal and guest relation skills

* Attention to detail

* Ability to plan and/or organize activities occurring in the nursing station

* Ability to prioritize

* 40 wpm typing
