About the opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Reporting &Technical Accounting Manager who will be a true business partner and strategic adviser to senior leaders of our Shutterstock team. The ideal candidate will be a professional with a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, SEC rules, and a proven track record in complex accounting topics. As a key member of our Finance team, you will play a crucial role in leading and enhancing technical accounting processes and financial reporting.

Note - This is a temporary, 6 months fixed-term assignment.

The day to day:

  • Manage the SEC reporting cycle and assist with statutory financial statement preparation and audit coordination with external auditors.

  • Ownership of key operating and performance indicators (KPI's), including constant currency calculations, for management and external reporting.

  • Serve as a key subject matter expert in intricate accounting topics such as revenue recognition, capitalized software, mergers and acquisitions and financial statement presentation.

  • Take end-to-end ownership of complex accounting projects, demonstrating expertise and leadership in your assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Analyze technical accounting transactions, present key findings to internal stakeholders, and document accounting white papers, calculations, and journal entries.

  • Potential to oversee equity accounting and stock-based compensation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Review and analyze new accounting pronouncements, determining their impact on the company, and assisting with documentation and implementation of new standards.

  • Build strong relationships with various teams, providing guidance on important and complex accounting topics.

  • Work on special projects identified by senior management, preparing accounting memos and supporting technical accounting positions as required.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 7+ years of experience coming from Big 4 or a combination of Big 4 and tech company with focus on technical accounting and financial reporting.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent technical accounting and financial reporting experience.

  • Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Workiva are a must.

  • Working knowledge of Workday Financials, Alteryex and Salesforce is a plus.

  • High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem-solving in technical accounting topics.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • NY metro location is preferred.

  • Active CPA license is preferred.

Hourly rate range for this role in the New York City Area is $65.00-$68.00 per hour.
