Overview

Join Highgate this summer for an exciting opportunity with our Human Resources team as a Human Resources Intern!

Our 2027 Human Resources Internship gives you the opportunity to explore the many areas of HR within a corporate hospitality environment. You'll work alongside experienced HR professionals, gain exposure to day-to-day HR operations, onboarding, recruiting, and employee communications, and help support initiatives that showcase Highgate's culture across internal and external channels. You'll begin developing valuable skills in human resources, recruitment, employer branding, and communications while gaining insight into the hospitality industry. Our internship begins in June and is onsite at our Corporate Offices in Irving, TX.



Responsibilities

    Human Resources (HR) Intern provides valuable support in carrying out day-to-day HR activities in the corporate office.
  • Assist with administrative tasks within the HR department.
  • Create new hire files and assist with auditing employee records.
  • Support corporate office event planning and execution.
  • Assist with monitoring and responding to the HH HR Inbox related to HR policies and procedures.
  • Prepare new hire welcome materials, including gift bags and cubicle/office setup.
  • Input and maintain updates in the department's internal HR systems and databases.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts by using social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, to share open positions and internship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure social media content reflects the company's values, culture, and employer brand.


Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum Junior status.
  • Strong interest in Human Resources, recruiting, and employer branding.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms (LinkedIn preferred); interest in recruitment marketing is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Professional work ethic with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Outlook and Teams is a plus.
  • Ability to commit to a 10-week onsite internship (June-August).
  • Must reside in the Dallas, TX area during the internship and work onsite in Irving, TX.
  • Salary - $20/hour for 40-hour week, with a duration of 10 weeks.

For Employees Based in Washington:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

  • 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

Please note that certain benefits described above for associates in Washington, Colorado, and California may vary for associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA"). For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, the terms of the applicable CBA and governing plan documents will control, as applicable.
