The Front of House Service Attendant is responsible for welcoming guests in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner and providing guests with a positive first impression. Additionally, he/she is responsible for assisting with the check-in/check-out processes and accommodating guests during their stay.



Responsibilities

    Load and unload luggage carts.
  • Escort guests to rooms and familiarize them with hotel services and amenities (hours of outlets, exercise room, etc.), according to Forbes Standards. Inspect guest's room to ensure it is in order and that supplies are adequate.
  • Explain features of the room including operation of television, telephone, in-room movie system, heating and cooling system,
  • Check/store luggage for arrivals and departures with luggage tags.
  • Sign out a hotel issued device with Relay and Alice at the beginning of each shift; return the device at the end of the shift.
  • Operate Relay devices efficiently and professionally in communicating with hotel staff. Ensure the proper use of radio etiquette within the hotel.
  • Report maintenance issues in Alice and to MOD.
  • Keep lobby area, tabletops, and floors clean and organized for arriving guests, fluff pillows in lobby area as per The Atlas Hotel Style Guide.
  • Communicate deep cleaning needs to housekeeping team through Alice.
  • Keep track of weather to recognize when rain mats need to be placed at entry doors and luggage carts need to be brought indoors. Return mats to storage when weather has cleared.
  • Provide umbrellas to guests when needed.
  • Deliver messages, flowers, and outside food delivery items to guestrooms.
  • Deliver packages, mail and messages to guests and meeting rooms, log in Bounte.
  • Pick up and deliver orders from Ama/Foxglove to guest rooms by following The Atlas Knock and Drop SOP.
  • Assist with room changes.
  • Maintain current listing of local and area attractions, special events and activities.
  • Respond to guest questions and answer information on local attractions, events and daily activities in the hotel.
  • Assist Front Office team with set up and take down for lobby activations (coffee, tea, games, etc.).
  • Assist House Attendant with guest requests.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the motor entrance, front door, and bell closet utilizing a trash grabber, broom, and/or leaf blower.
  • Ensure the curb remains clear, clean, and free from potential hazards at all times.
  • Ensure shoeshine equipment is in proper working order and that supplies are stocked with sufficient inventory.
  • Perform shoeshine service and water to guests in lobby area.
  • Provide information, maps and directions as required.
  • Answer telephone console to assist reception agents.
  • Show guestrooms and suites as needed and emphasize the hotel's amenities.
  • Assist guests with cabs and other transportation requirements.
  • Coordinate with Valet for seamless guest experience, including but not limited to collecting guest information, keys, and communicating process for car pick-up.
  • Open vehicle and hotel doors and greet arriving and departing guests.
  • Follow emergency procedures and assist as described.
  • Be aware of VIP and repeat guests; greet them by name.
  • Be familiar with hospitality terminology.
  • Ensure assigned keys are returned at the end of the day
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.


Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, effectively with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Must be extremely professional and demonstrate genuine and intuitive service.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other department-related areas.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

  • 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
