Responsibilities

Join the team supporting NASA's scientific balloon program delivering low-cost access to near space at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF)! Our highly-skilled launch teams travel around the world to launch scientific payloads to the edge of space.

The Electronic Assembly Technician position supports CSBF Electronics Operations activities at our main facility in beautiful East Texas. Our rural campus offers the ability to work in a low-cost of living area, but within an easy drive of Tyler, Dallas and Houston.

Responsibilities of the position:

    Assemble electronic components, wire harnesses, and install discreet devices on Printed Circuit boards in accordance to manufacturing instructions.
  • Supports the Electronics Operations department by producing high reliability hardware
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines
  • Less than 10% travel required


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School or GED
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Assembler, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, circuitry, and assembly techniques.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired Qualifications:

  • IPC J-STD-001 Soldering Certification.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies Certification
  • Ability to inspect and repair solder connections in various Circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Experience in performing through hole assembly and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing.

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
