Position Summary

Provide construction engineering and design services for modifications and retrofits to campus plumbing and building systems for a university capital programs office which manages major construction and renovation projects. Develop engineering and design standards that implement conservation and sustainable design. Assess plumbing projects, develop project concepts and review alternative solutions. Develop engineering sketches in detail to guide bidding. Review construction estimates. Provide technical review of engineering design by others. Provide professional engineering review and certification of designs and drawings developed on campus. Provide construction engineering consultation in sustainable design practices. Serve as a technical resource during review and approval for infrastructure projects. Provide technical consultation and support in the areas of building management systems, preventive maintenance, infrastructure renewal projects, and other areas. Evaluate the results of implemented projects through analysis, studies and field assessments.


Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience applying construction methods related to plumbing repairs, retrofits and initial construction. (Required)
  • Demonstrated project experience utilizing energy management practices and techniques. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of construction practices for sustainable design project(s). (Required)
  • Knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and prioritizing projects and tasks. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience delegating work tasks and following through to ensure task completion. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience tracking and analyzing budgetary information for decision-making. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and developing plumbing layouts. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience working independently and self-initiating projects and activities. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical information in oral and written manner using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience making oral group presentations to persuade others to accept a specific action or opinion and provide information to explain procedures and policies. (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing principles, equipment and design practices (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field, plus two years of experience as an engineering specialist, plumbing engineer, construction design engineer, or a related occupation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
