Position Summary Odyssey is seeking an Animal Research Technician to support the Clinical Investigation Department (CID) and the CTRG (Combat Trauma Related Group)t the Navy Medical Center, Portsmouth (NMCP) Virginia. The mission of the command is to support the national interests of the United States by providing professional education and development, providing quality patient care, being responsive and ready for deployment, and taking care of each other as shipmates. NMCP conducts biomedical research in general surgery, psychology, otolaryngology, pediatrics, nursing research, orthopedics, women's health, and emergency medicine, which are relevant to the Graduate Medical Education Program. ***Contingent upon contract award*** Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide guidance, training, technical expertise and assistance to PIs, research personnel, and veterinary staff, in the performance of duties and procedures necessary for the completion of basic and applied research protocols, including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) studies. All education and training materials are subject to final Government approval.
***Contingent upon contract award*** Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications: Citizenship: Must be a US citizen. Clearance: Ability to Obtain Secret. Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related science field. Years of Experience: 3 years of animal lab experience. Certifications: Registered Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (RALAT) Certified. While duties are performed primarily during normal business hours Monday through Friday, rotating weekend hours and holidays, consisting of not more than one (1) weekend a month for a 3-hour period per day, may be needed for animal care/husbandry when animals are onsite. The COR will provide the contractor with 2-4 weeks' notification of the need for weekend hours. Additional Information: Location: 620 John Paul Jones Circle, Portsmouth, VA 23708. Travel: 10%.
