To assist with planning, directing, and managing the activities of the Product Strategy and Marketing team. Assist with driving member acquisition, retention, engagement, and growth strategies that support corporate objectives. Build strong collaborative relationships across Product Management, Analytics, Marketing, Portfolio & Pricing, Digital, Member Research, and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic recommendations, campaigns, and initiatives align with business goals and enterprise priorities.

Evaluate and adjust work quality, staff performance, team effectiveness, systems, processes, and procedures to meet departmental goals. Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, development, capacity planning and workload management, and quality oversight for Product Strategy & Marketing team members. Manage daily activities of professional employees and/or supervisors. Support senior management in developing and executing strategic plans. Act as Manager in the incumbent's absence.

This role serves as the primary people leader for Product Strategy & Marketing team members and is responsible for coaching, talent development, quality oversight, workload management, and day-to-day team leadership. The role partners closely with the Manager, Product Strategy & Marketing, Senior Program Manager, and senior strategy leaders to support execution of the team's strategic mandate. While the Assistant Manager is responsible for people leadership and strategist effectiveness, strategic program governance, operating cadence, dependency management, and strategic operations activities are led by the Senior Program Manager. Senior strategy leaders provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise across designated strategic focus areas and enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing member experience initiatives and recommend changes to products and features to align with corporate objectives and meet goals
  • Provide guidance and direction regarding strategic projects, complex member related matters and operational issues; authorize appropriate solutions to resolve issues
  • Assist with implementing plans to achieve growth, retention & engagement objectives
  • Assist with establishing Product Strategy & Marketing priorities, goals, and operating practices that support department and enterprise objectives. Ensure workstreams are aligned with strategic direction, business priorities, and resource capacity.
  • Manage team activities, strategic initiatives, and assigned workstreams to ensure priorities, objectives, and expected business outcomes are achieved.
  • Assist with developing strategy to expand the portfolio, drive retention, and continuously improve member experience
  • Manage & guide initiatives or participate in portions of large/complex scoped marketing projects with guidance from senior staff and/or management
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to analyze portfolio and implement relevant actions or modifications to existing programs
  • Monitor the competitive industry and regulatory environments
  • Partner to conduct benchmarking and trend analysis to drive continuous improvement and improve acquisition efficiency, increase member experience quality, generate revenue, minimize financial risk, and maintain high operational efficiency
  • Review and act from reports and comparative analyses; identify trends and recommend changes; assist with preparing presentations for senior management
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and Navy Federal policies and procedures; develop and recommend action plans for implementation/dissemination to management; assist with coordinating changes with affected branches/divisions; recommend training to leadership
  • Assist with developing and implementing team processes, frameworks, standards, and operating practices that promote consistency, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching, mentoring, and development support for Product Strategists across varying levels of experience.
  • Review strategic recommendations, executive presentations, analyses, and communications to ensure quality, consistency, and leadership readiness.
  • Support workload balancing, resource planning, execution support, and talent development across strategist workstreams.
  • Develop team capabilities in market intelligence, lifecycle strategy, competitive intelligence, experimentation, strategic storytelling, and member growth strategy.
  • Promote consistent standards for strategic thinking, recommendation development, and executive-ready communication.
  • Support execution of Annual Financial Plan (AFP), strategic planning, and growth initiatives through coaching, coordination, and team leadership.
  • Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
    • Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
    • Establish performance goals and priorities
    • Prepare, conduct, and review performance appraisals
    • Develop, mentor and counsel staff
    • Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
    • Ensure team goals and objectives align with division, department, and enterprise strategy.
    • Ensure efficiency of operations
    • Leadership Level - Manage daily activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
  • Experience coaching and developing strategic talent in a matrixed or cross-functional environment.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, recommendations, and business cases.
  • Experience supporting strategy development, lifecycle strategy, member growth initiatives, experimentation, or market intelligence activities.
  • Experience fostering adoption of new tools, frameworks, and ways of working that improve team effectiveness.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing principles such as branding, promotions, production, communications, direct marketing, product life cycles, and business strategies
  • Significant experience in managing cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impact
  • Significant experience in using insights, analytics, and performance metrics to form strategies, make decisions and communicate findings clear and concisely
  • Significant experience in managing projects from creation through execution and evaluation
  • Significant experience work which displays increasing levels of responsibility and/or authority
  • Significant experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Significant experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems
  • Significant experience in change management and leading and directing the work of other participants in the project or task
  • Advanced knowledge of deposit products, services, processes, procedures, and related legislation
  • Advanced analytical thinking skills, data and analytics experience, as well as data storytelling to include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results, or relationships
  • Advanced skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role
  • Advanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes
  • Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely
