Director of Adult Services

The Director of Adult Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for Adult Day Cares and Recreation programming. Advancing growth, innovation, program performance, and financial sustainability while ensuring that the program areas remain responsive to community needs and are aligned with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) include the following:

Program Strategy and Operations

• Provide overall strategic and operational oversight of Adult Day Cares and Recreation programming through effective leadership of program manager.
• Develop and implement strategic goals for Adult Services programs, aligning program growth, community needs, financial sustainability, and organizational priorities.
• Monitor program performance, outcomes, quality, utilization, and financial sustainability and take action when performance is below expectations. Ensures programs maintain compliance with applicable regulations, contracts, funding requirements, accreditation standards and organizational policies.
• Review program data, trends, capacity, service demand, staffing, and resource needs to identify opportunities and make recommendations for growth, improvement, innovation, expansion, redesign, and resource allocation.
• Promote continuous quality improvement, ensuring lessons learned and best practices are incorporated into program operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to support program effectiveness, sustainability, and growth.
• Provide reporting to Executive Leadership regarding program performance, strategic initiatives, opportunities, and risks, as requested.
• Provide oversight and accountability of the Adult Day Care Certification requirements, ensuring the program manager effectively manages the certification requirements and programs remain certified.
• Manage assigned grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with funding requirements as applicable
• Manage programs within budgetary guidelines and address significant budget variances by identifying causes and developing corrective plans of action.
• Develop and cultivate community partnerships to increase awareness of the organization's mission and programs.
• Serves as back up to assigned program manager

Supervision

• Supervise assigned department personnel, including hiring, performance management, coaching, development, and other supervisory responsibilities.
• Provide leadership, direction, coaching, feedback, and accountability to program managers, ensuring effective management of program operations and staff.
• Establish clear performance expectations, goals, and priorities, and hold managers accountable for program performance, staffing, budgets, compliance, quality, outcomes, and strategic priorities.
• Ensure managers effectively supervise, develop, and retain their respective teams while establishing appropriate decision-making authority and ownership of day-to-day program operations.
• Address performance concerns involving direct reports and significant personnel issues in collaboration with Human Resources, as appropriate.
• Foster collaboration and consistency across Adult Services while recognizing the distinct operational needs of each program and promoting a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, nonprofit management or related field.
• Five or more years' experience working in the area of adult services and/or with adults who have developmental delays/disabilities required.
• Three or more years of supervisory experience required, leading managers or programs leaders preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must have proof of insurance AND meet the requirements of the Employee Driving Policy.
• A Criminal Background Check must meet the requirements of the State of WI licensure for day programming.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 25 pounds.
• Frequently requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
• Required to travel between agency sites and community locations as needed.
• Occasionally exposed to loud/noisy environments.
