Building Service Worker University of Illinois Urbana-ChampaignDepartment of Campus RecreationJob Summary: Function is to perform all assigned custodial work and all assigned work in the conversion of the building from one setup to another, and all assigned work in the setup, moving and presentation of recreational activities, conferences, and other events in a large public event facility such as the ARC, CRCE and Ice Arena. Personal Contacts: Position interacts with a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors while performing daily responsibilities. Some interactions may require conflict resolution. Position requires positive customer service and good stewardship of facilities and equipment. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to operate heavy equipment such as: auto scrubbers and/or mechanical sweepers. Must be able to perform routine area janitorial work and maintain ability to work on feet for duration of an 8-hour shift. Work Environment: Must be able to work in varying temperatures during the season. Snow removal requires working in extremely cold conditions for short durations. Inside of buildings, or outside in case of washing windows, etc. In department areas where individuals are working, work must be done without disturbing occupants, such as washing windows, moving, public function setups and daily janitor work. Occasionally must respond to emergencies, work unscheduled overtime, and perform last minute job order requests. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4502 - Building Service Worker position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the posting closes. The Collective Bargaining Agreement sets the starting salary for this position at $20.30 per hour.
