About This Role

Join the Housing and Dining Services grounds team in creating and maintaining safe, attractive, and welcoming outdoor spaces for the K-State community. The Landscape Technician I supports the day-to-day care of campus landscapes, helping ensure lawns, plantings, trees, gardens, and outdoor areas are healthy, well-maintained, and visually appealing.
In this role, you will:
* Maintain an aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment by caring for lawns, planting beds, trees, shrubs, flowers, and other campus green spaces.
* Keep outdoor spaces safe and inviting through routine grounds maintenance, cleanup, and attention to potential hazards.
* Operate and care for grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscape tools.
* Support seasonal landscape work, including planting, pruning, mulching, leaf removal, snow removal and ice treatment, and other activities as needed throughout the year.
* Contribute to landscape improvement projects by assisting with planting, installation, renovation, and general upkeep of campus grounds.
* Work as part of a team to complete daily assignments, respond to changing priorities, and maintain high standards across the campus.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Valid driver's license upon employment


Preferred Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in an institutional grounds maintenance unit
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks as instructed, to remain focused on assigned tasks
  • Willingness to seek out additional tasks upon completion of assignments
  • Ability to effectively interact with others
  • Ability to act with integrity; show consistency, practice dependability and reliability; remain diplomatic and display a high degree of initiative.


Additional Role Information:



  • May be subject to occasional call-backs, particularly during periods of inclement weather.
