What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) Lead Supervisor to join our Practice or CBG Team in Chipley, FL! This role follows an onsite work model, requiring regular attendance at our Chipley, FLoffice.

What you'll be challenged to do:

The RTMC Supervisor provides operational and supervisory support for daily activities within the Regional Traffic Management Center. The position ensures effective realtime monitoring, incident response, Operator performance, and adherence to established RTMC procedures. This role acts as shift supervisor and serves as an escalation point for elevated events, coordinating with external agencies such as law enforcement, fire/EMS, Road Rangers, and FDOT personnel. The RTMC Supervisor is responsible for supporting training and quality assurance, and serves as the shift supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Supervises RTMC Operators to ensure accurate monitoring of roadway conditions, incidents, congestion, and system alerts.
  • Oversees SunGuide operations including CCTV, VDS, DMS, and event management tools.
  • Provides realtime operational decision support during elevated incidents and ensures proper adherence to SOPs.

Incident and Event Coordination

  • Coordinates with FHP, law enforcement, fire/EMS, Road Rangers, and regional partners on traffic incidents and roadway emergencies.
  • Approves routine alerts, notifications, and messaging consistent with established procedures.

Training, Documentation, and QA/QC

  • Supports coaching, and skill development for RTMC Operators.
  • Assists with incident documentation, operational logs, monthly reporting, and QA/QC compliance reviews.
  • Helps maintain SunGuide configuration updates and contributes to weekly operational reporting.

Systems and Technology Support

  • Identifies and reports field device malfunctions, control room issues, and system disruptions.
  • Works in coordination with IT/technology teams to relay system issues and support basic troubleshooting.

Staffing and Workload Support

  • Assists in scheduling, staffing coordination, and shift coverage when directed.
  • Works assigned shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and participates in oncall rotation.
Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Internal candidates: Minimum 3-4 years RTMC experience.
  • External candidates: Minimum 4-5 years supervisory or related experience.
  • High school diploma required
  • SunGuide experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) principles.

What we prefer for you to bring:

  • FDOT Intermediate or Advanced MOT training within 1 year of hire.
  • Supervisor training within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear verbal communication, including radio/network communication.
  • Ability to work varied shifts and remain on call 24/7.
  • Proficiency with freeway management and ATMS systems
  • Ability to write clear reports and manage real-time priorities.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based applications.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $30.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
