Requisition Summary

Plans, develops and administers traffic programs to maintain and improve transportation services for the Kenworth Chillicothe production facility.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Direct responsibility for all inbound and outbound freight traffic (truckload, LTL, intermodal and airfreight) to Kenworth Chillicothe, evaluating rates and routes, and recommends cost saving programs to divisions and plants.
  • Responsible for filing and managing loss, damage, and shortage claims with carriers as needed. Accountable for maintaining/meeting appropriate metrics related to on-time performance, premium and inbound freight costs, quality, and safety standards.
  • Develops short and long range traffic objectives, including planning strategy for attainment and standards for measuring progress.
  • Oversees collection and evaluation of company traffic data (freight bills payment and reconciliation), advising management of needs.
  • Establishes traffic policies and procedures, providing published guidelines to divisions and plants.
  • Coordinates with major carriers, monitoring performance and ensuring conformity to established quality, delivery, and safety standards. Collaborate with suppliers, carriers and management to resolve disputes over expediting, overtime, or other charges.
  • Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues.
  • Assists in developing logistics programs and other improvement actions using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Supervises Logistics/Traffic Planners, including performance evaluations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in transportation, material planning, scheduling, or production management.
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean tools and processes.
  • Goal oriented with proven organizational, communication, negotiation, conflict management, and cost control skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Mainframe AS400 and SAP experience a plus.
  • Must be able to transact and analyze work with an accurate detailed approach, good organization and clear communication.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when required to resolve freight-related emergencies.
  • Ability to work with teams and remote direct reports.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodation.
Education

Bachelor's degree required.
