Summary: The Supervisor, Clinical Nutrition provides clinical supervision for nutrition staff and delivers evidence-based medical nutrition therapy integrated within an assigned service line. In collaboration with the Manager, Clinical Nutrition, this role coordinates and supervises the work of nutrition staff, develops and monitors clinical practice standards, and ensures care is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with evidence-based practice and accreditation requirements. Primary responsibilities include assigning and supervising the work of clinical dietitians; providing oversight of day-to-day nutrition services; participating in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of staff; and identifying and addressing barriers to patient care and efficient workflows. This role also functions in a direct patient care capacity for approximately 50% of scheduled work time. Responsibilities include managing the nutrition-related needs of patients within assigned specialty services, providing cross-coverage for other specialty areas as needed to support patient access, and delivering professional outpatient nutrition consultations through both telehealth and face-to-face visits at UNC Hospitals outpatient clinics and UNC Health affiliate locations. Preferred Skills: 1. Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential preferred, or demonstrated advanced skills in nutrition support practice, including enteral and parenteral nutrition management. - 2. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power Automate, and Microsoft Copilot, as well as experience with data management, reporting, and analytics tools preferred. Description of Job Responsibilities: 1. Hires, leads, directs, coaches, trains, and develops clinical nutrition team members in collaboration with the Manager Clinical Nutrition/department leadership team. 2.Fosters team work and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes Education Requirements: * Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy, including the nutrition care process. Advanced knowledge of human physiology, biochemistry, and metabolism as it relates to clinical nutrition status; food chemistry, nutrient composition, and dietary analysis; food production and service systems in relation to quality, nutritious, and safe food. Knowledge of principles and procedures of clinical research. Ability to organize and gather data, interpret results, and prepare reports. Skill in interpersonal communications and counseling. Competence with nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic formats with patients, staff, physicians, nurses, and administrators. Ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the work of others. Ability to organize tasks and work independently. Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience. Proven ability in meeting and maintaining operational goals. Ability to motivate and mentor students and staff. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate clinical experiences of students.
