The Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Northside Hospital Gwinnett is a 24-bed intermediate care unit dedicated to providing high-intensity nursing care for patients who require close monitoring but do not meet ICU criteria. This fast-paced environment is ideal for nurses with strong assessment skills, critical thinking abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
The diverse patient population allows nurses to gain experience with a wide range of diagnoses, including sepsis, respiratory failure, GI bleeding, stroke, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), behavioral health conditions, and alcohol withdrawal. The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
