Job Summary:


The Regional Labor Relations Manager - West Coast is part of the Labor Relations leadership team which provides operational and strategic direction for the department across the company's West Coast unionized contracts. This position assists the Director and Labor Relations leadership with union and employee relations throughout the region, and works closely with the team to evaluate, manage and resolve grievances. This position's focus is balancing organizational goals with employee welfare.


Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Union Negotiations & Conflict Resolution: Operate independently to expertly manage labor relations grievances within authority with multiple unions and resolve conflicts, up to and including assisting in labor arbitrations, balancing organizational goals with employee welfare, while interpreting and upholding the terms of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the West Coast region, including union representatives and executive leadership, to develop comprehensive labor relations strategies.
  • Program Management: Assist with overseeing the labor relations program across assigned West Coast contracts, encompassing personal handling of grievance, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution. Requires cross-departmental communication and proactive investigation into grievance subject to find solution.
  • Organizational Consultation: Serve as a consultant to the executive team on labor relations matters, guiding informed decision-making.
  • Future Planning: Actively participate in planning for the organization's workforce future, leveraging insights from labor relations to inform HR strategies.
  • Bargaining: Develop bargaining strategy in conjunction with bargaining team and participate in negotiations as necessary; maintain accurate notes of negotiating sessions when present; ensure that labor contracts comply with all applicable state and federal laws.
  • Meet with representatives of recognized membership to discuss problems or issues not adequately covered by the current negotiated agreements.


Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Can independently develop reports, spreadsheets, diagrams, charts, graphs, and other products that may be needed. (e.g. - MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Salesforce)
  • An understanding of security operations and contracts management preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Effective communicator who understands the value of teamwork and thrives in a collaborative environment, and possesses business maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive work attitude.
  • Comfortable in an ever changing, fast paced, sometimes stressful deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to interact in a corporate environment and effectively communicate with all levels of management, employees, and union representatives.


Education and Experience:



  • Preferred candidate has a Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years' experience in employer-side union operations.
  • Time and travel flexibility depending on the needs of the company.
