Job Description
Primary Purpose This role serves as one of the Sempra Infrastructure's highestlevel policy strategists, responsible for shaping direction across complex legislative and regulatory landscapes. Provides expert counsel to executives, leads highstakes external engagements, and drives multiyear, enterprisewide public policy strategies with broad business impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Anticipates major regulatory and legislative shifts and develops longrange policy strategies to mitigate risk and maximize opportunity.
- Leads highstakes engagements with federal agencies, legislative leaders, and multistakeholder coalitions.
- Shapes nationallevel advocacy agendas and develops frameworks for emerging or crossindustry policy issues.
- Crafts authoritative policy documents that define organizational viewpoints on complex or sensitive issues.
- Advises executives on regulatory strategy, including negotiation tactics and scenario planning.
- Represents the organization in multiorganization alliances addressing broad societal, economic, or environmental challenges.
- Builds and maintains highlevel relationships with major policy influencers, think tanks, academic partners, and external experts.
- Oversees enterprisewide alignment of policy messaging, ensuring consistency across business units.
- Creates and edits policies, reports, manuals, and other documents, ensuring accuracy, organization, and compliance with
requirements. - Identifies, analyzes, and retrieves legal information to support decision making and business needs.
- Ensures adherence to applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and business requirements.
- Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks through appropriate strategies, controls, policies, and procedures.
- Communicates information effectively through clear, audience focused, and compelling narratives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education
- Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Preferred: Four-year degree with relevant study in economics, history, international affairs, law, political science, or related field.
Experience
- Typically requires 12 years of related experience.
- Preferred experience with the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, particularly on natural gas policy.
- Knowledge of, or engagement in, U.S. regulatory and legislative processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to anticipate political trends and assess long-term advocacy implications.
- Ability to contribute directly to functional or enterprise strategy.
- Ability to guide high-risk advocacy initiatives with broad organizational impact.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory environments across jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of advanced coalition-building and stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Skill in advising executives on strategic lobbying priorities.
- Skill in developing innovative lobbying strategies in complex environments.
- Knowledge of Key business concepts and the ability to apply business insights to support informed decision making.
- Ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships and business partners, clients, and stakeholders.
- Plans, implements, monitors, and improves communication channels within and across organizations.
- Knowledge of laws governing the rights, relationships, and conduct of companies, organizations, and businesses.
Work Schedule
HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 4 days per week onsite.

$173,500.00 - $305,500.00 / year
