Job Title: Lab Assistant III Location: Ascension St. Thomas Midtown /, Nashville, TN Duration: 2 Months (Contract to Possible Hire) Schedule: Monday-Friday \| 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (1st Shift) Work Arrangement: Onsite Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Assistant III to join the Histology team at LabCorp in Nashville, TN. This role supports daily pathology laboratory operations by handling histology slides and tissue blocks, maintaining laboratory supplies, and ensuring accurate filing and distribution of specimens. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities Distribute histology slides to the appropriate laboratory personnel. Change reagents on the H&E slide stainer as required. File tissue blocks and microscope slides accurately in numerical order. Organize and maintain pathology and histology records. Support daily laboratory operations while maintaining quality standards. Follow laboratory safety procedures and infection control protocols. Work collaboratively with the histology and pathology laboratory team. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to accurately distribute and file tissue blocks and slides in numerical order. Ability to stand for approximately 50% of the workday. Comfortable working in a Pathology/Histology laboratory environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous laboratory experience. Knowledge of medical terminology. Medical office or healthcare-related experience. Training Approximately 1 week of training, depending on experience. Work Environment Pathology/Histology Laboratory. Team-oriented environment. Vaccination Requirement Flu vaccination required during flu season. Additional Information No travel required. Panel onsite interview (1 round). Contract duration is 2 months with the potential for extension or permanent hire based on business needs and performance.
