The Structural Engineer III plays a key role in the successful execution of projects. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Structural Engineer III is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed - both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also help support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Serve as the discipline lead for multiple concurrent projects, performing engineering calculations, overseeing drawing development, delegating design tasks, resource planning, completing quality assurance reviews and mentoring.
- Act as the Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
- Lead effective project execution by developing scope estimates, and ensuring all work remains within scope and adheres to budget (labor, expenses, and subcontractors).
- Oversee the production of construction documents including drawings and specifications, ensuring that sound structural engineering principles are consistently applied.
- Perform comprehensive field surveys or inspections, document findings, verify existing conditions, and integrate field data into design with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effectively execute projects. Help develop estimates for assigned scope of work, and ensure we stay within scope and adhere to the overall project budget (KFI labor, expenses, and subs).
- Coordinate work with both internal and external stakeholders, providing technical support and work direction as needed.
- Provide work direction to team members and subcontractors, offering technical support across departments as needed.
- Represent KFI professionally in meetings, site visits, client interactions, and multidiscipline coordination discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required with an emphasis in Structural Design strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Possess an understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering construction practices.
- Strong structural design experience across a variety of industries (agribusiness and/or central utility) and materials (concrete and steel, masonry helpful).
- Experience using structural analysis software (RISA or similar).
- Demonstrated consistency in successful combination of design and/or project management.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and establish credibility.
- Skilled at synthesizing ideas into actionable recommendations and positively influencing outcomes.
- Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Effectively present complex information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and high workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
- Travel: May include some domestic travel 1 to 2 days in duration - typically not exceeding 10% to 15% throughout the year.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification. Registration in multiple states, or ability to become registered in multiple states, is desirable.
- Experience designing heavy industrial structures and facilities common to the agribusiness or central utility industries.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $132,000 annually. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual qualifications, experience, work location, and education. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
