What You Will Do:

The Assistant Director of International Student Services is responsible for supporting university F1 regulatory compliance and organizing support services for international students to ensure exceptional service to these student populations. The Assistant Director provides oversight for all SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) student compliance functions and supports the PDSO with institutional I-17 compliance. This role serves as the university's Designated School Official (DSO) and organizes quarterly F1 student regulatory orientations for new students. The Assistant Director provides international student advising appointments and supervises staff and student workers in delivering a range of international student support functions, making referrals to relevant campus support, implementing social and cultural events, and supporting key enrollment initiatives related to international students.



Essential Responsibilities

Immigration Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

    Serve as Designated School Official (DSO) responsible for F1 student compliance in SEVIS, including issuance of I20s and CPT/OPT authorizations.
  • Interpret and apply complex U.S. immigration regulations and institutional policies to ensure compliance.
  • Support institutional compliance (e.g., I17, audit readiness) and train staff on regulatory requirements.

International Student Advising & Support:

  • Provide advising to international students on maintaining legal status, immigration benefits, and navigating university processes.
  • Oversee onboarding/orientation for international students and ensure a smooth transition experience.
  • Develop and implement programs that support integration, belonging, and student success.

Programs & Engagement:

  • Plan and deliver cultural, social, and educational programs for international students (e.g., cultural celebrations, engagement initiatives).
  • Support student engagement and connection to campus resources.

Communication & Outreach

  • Develop and manage communications to international students (web, newsletters, campaigns).
  • Support outreach and enrollment-related initiatives for international student populations.

Data, Reporting & Program Assessment:

  • Collect, analyze, and report on international student data and program outcomes.
  • Use data to inform service improvements and support institutional reporting needs.

Staff Supervision & Operations:

  • Supervise a team of employees (mix of both student workers and staff).
  • Oversee service delivery within international student support functions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Global/International Education, Counseling or related field, required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in international student advising and/or student support including F-1 Visa regulations/SEVIS processes
  • At least one year of experience supervising and leading teams
  • Strong knowledge of immigration regulations and student advising practices
  • Study abroad or prior DSO experience strongly preferred
  • Additional language skills are a plus

Note: Occasional night and weekend work and the ability to travel to other campuses as needed are requirements of the role.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $51,966 to $75,351 annually. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
