Position Summary: The Mechanical Foreman will participate and oversee the installation or maintenance and inspection of HVAC, Utility and Process piping systems including Sub-Contractors. Role and Responsibilities:
- Act as a team leader in the execution of larger scale mechanical projects with the objective of constructing a best-in-class product
- Ensure field installation compliance with technical specifications, approved shop drawings and submittals
- Perform layout and develop isometric drawings for piping systems
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes or fixtures in structures using measuring instruments such as rules or levels
- Test pipe and fixtures for leaks using various methods
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors
- Additional duties as directed by job site project manager and supervisor
- Supervise and participate in the installations of: Heating Hot Water, Chilled Water Stream, Condensate, Compressed Air, Process Fluids, Chemical, Fuel Oil, Gasses, and other related systems
- Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines
- Perform proper fit-up of pipe, fittings and flanges for open root butt welding and socket welding
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances, or fixtures using hand or power tools
Essential Skills & Characteristics:
- Ability to work independently and manage a team of pipefitters, plumbers, welders, and apprentices
- Ability to plan work accordingly and work with procurement to ensure materials are on site as needed
- Interact with coworkers in an attentive, courteous manner
- Must maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality
- Direct helpers or apprentices in appropriate tasks
- Assist with coordination and scheduled shutdowns as required to support any associated on-site operational requirements
- Coordinate field trade activities in accordance with the project schedule and help with developing the three-week look ahead coordination schedules with all appropriate Project Team Participants
- Establish work completion and punch lists in accordance with established Quality Control and Quality Assurance Programs
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, plans or specification to determine work details or procedures
- Ensure proper site housekeeping is always maintained
- Maintain good documentation and record keeping
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or relevant work experience
- 10 years of field experience
- Applicable State Trade License
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Understanding and development of daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in industrial construction preferred
