Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer - Power Systems (Direct Hire)
Step into a high-impact engineering role where your expertise directly supports the reliability, safety, and performance of the electric grid. We are seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer specializing in substation protection and control to provide advanced engineering, relay settings support, and system design leadership for distribution substation operations.
In this role, you will develop and evaluate protection and control schemes, consult on system security requirements, and lead the design and documentation of relay protection systems. You will coordinate substation engineering projects through formal project management processes, review manufacturer drawings, support equipment selection and procurement, and ensure accurate integration into the project scope. Responsibilities also include producing protection and control drawings (wiring diagrams, cable schedules, BOMs, and installation drawings), supporting field commissioning and operations teams, and contributing to switching and operating instructions. This position includes rotational on-call support and storm restoration response.
Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited required)
  • Minimum 8 years' experience for Senior Engineer; 12+ years for Principal Engineer
  • Experience in power system engineering, substation protection, or utility operations
  • Eligibility for or current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida preferred/required based on level
  • Strong knowledge of protection & control systems, relay settings, and substation design standards


Preferred capabilities include leadership of technical studies, mentoring engineers, and collaboration across engineering, operations, and project teams.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000
