Surveyor in Training (SIT) II, Austin, TX

Halff has an opening for an experienced Land Surveyor to join our growing Survey team out of our Austin, TX office. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who has completed the required field experience for licensure and is ready to transition into the next phase of their career. You will work directly with licensed Professional Surveyors on land development and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Texas, with a clear path toward Professional Surveyor licensure. What you will do:


  • Perform survey research and assist with boundary analysis for land development and municipal projects.
  • Perform boundary calculations to support field search and monument recovery.
  • Process and reduce field data using industry-standard software.
  • Assist with right-of-way and easement analysis for public and private projects.
  • Support preparation of survey reports and project documentation.
  • Coordinator with field crews and review incoming field data for quality and completeness.
  • Organize research for field surveys.
  • Join and assist field crews as needed.
  • Reduce field observations.
  • Prepare data for drafting.
  • Prepare deed sketches.
  • Assist with the Boundary and Right of Way Analysis.


What you will need:


  • Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) Certification.
  • Completion of required field experience for licensure.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the field or office directing survey crew for boundary, topographic, site, utility, or construction surveys.
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, and/or construction surveys.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, Geomatics, or a related field (meeting Texas licensure requirements).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to follow verbal, written, and other forms of instruction.
  • Working knowledge of survey field procedures, measurement principles, and data collection methods.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
