Project Manager, Survey, Houston, TX

Halff is seeking a Project Manager to join our Survey team in Houston, TX. This role is ideal for a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) with a strong background in survey project management and a passion for leading projects, developing teams, and delivering high-quality solutions for clients. The ideal candidate would bring at least 1-2 years of management experience in the Survey industry. Previous experience managing large-scale, land survey projects, including overseeing field crews and multiple survey technicians and other registered surveyors is highly desired.

What you will do:



  • Lead and manage survey projects from planning through delivery
  • Oversee project scope, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, subconsultants, and stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Develop a network of municipal clients and teaming partners
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design staff including field crew members, surveyors, and technical staff
  • Ensure project deliverables meet design standards, quality expectations, and client requirements
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and support ongoing client satisfaction
  • Review plans and deliverables for accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Assist with proposal development, RFQs, and business development efforts
  • Partner with Survey leadership on project delivery and strategic growth initiatives
  • Monitor project performance, including budget tracking and schedule adherence
  • Assist with the operational flow for a survey team to collaboratively prioritize projects of all sizes and levels of complexities
  • Lead by example in a professional, productive and established work environment
  • Support QA/QC processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and Halff expectations


What you will need:



  • At least 1 to 2 years of demonstrated management experience in the Survey industry
  • Registered Professionial Land Surveyor (RPLS) in the state of Texas, preferred, or could become licensed in Texas within a year
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale, land survey projects, including overseeing field crews and multiple survey technicians and other registered surveyors
  • Boundary and Right of Way resolution
  • Preparation of proposals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with internal and external clients for the purpose of being concise, clear, and conveying details for project deliverables in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to work autonomously, mentor and professionally develop Survey Technicians and field crew members
  • Exceptional ability and practical experience to successfully manage projects, including developing scope of work, schedule and fee while adhering to established guidelines
  • Technical understanding and proficiencies with Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D
  • Experience with TxDOT, Public Works, Energy, Water & Wastewater, and/or Land Development projects, is ideal
  • Must be flexible, dependable, responsible and disciplined to be a positive representative for Halff and remain punctual on a consistent basis.
  • Hands-on experience with various municipalities in the South Texas market
