POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance tasks to keep production equipment operational, while working at and promoting the highest levels of safety.This position also supports capital projects at the manufacturing plant when needed to ensure equipment maintainability is incorporated into the design and that sound maintenance processes are developed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance tasks to keep production equipment operational.

  • Perform work at the highest safety levels, promote safetyinternallyand work directly with contractors on safety procedures.

  • Work with cross functional teams toidentifyandinsuresound maintenance processes aredevelopfor capital projects.

  • Maintain,repairand troubleshoot all plant equipment.

  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance.

  • Participate in 5S and TPM teams.

  • Read PLC programs as needed and troubleshoot and correct problemspertaining tosoftware and/or hardware.

  • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Assistin developing and installing new equipment or plant expansion projects.

  • Contact,directand promote the safety of contractors to perform specific inspections or maintenance work.

  • Maintainaccurateand up to date maintenance records.

  • Support on call requirements for the plant: 1 week duration, rotating responsibility.

  • Must be willing toworka flexible work schedule.

  • Based on Business needs the followingmaybe required:

  • Overtime

  • Changing shifts

  • Overnight travel

  • SAFETY -Adhere to all plant safety policies and compliance regulations.Activelyparticipatein the safety process throughcompleting ofsafety audits,participatingin safety projects,identifyingSiteHazardsand contributing to safety improvements, and being an attending member of a safety team.Complete annual safety training asrequired.

  • QUALITY -Become familiar with,understandandcomply withMilliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs), relevant ISO 9000standardsand Company Policies thatare applicableto this position.

  • RESPONSIBLE CARE:

a. Be aware of the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RC-14001) and follow plant procedures to ensure compliancetorequirements.

b. Understand the RC-14001 Significant Aspects of your job and help ensure controls are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

c. Take actions andidentifyand communicate ideas to minimize waste, preventpollutionand conserve energy.

  • HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING - All associates who handle hazardous waste shall be given an overview of the regulations and company policiesregardingthe management of hazardous waste.The hazardous waste handlers shall receive detailed instruction on the proper handling, collecting, labeling, and transporting of hazardous waste as outlined in RCRA and OSHA regulations.Instructions shall also include whom to notify in case of a spill and proper procedures for spill response.Educational requirements include the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.Instructions on handling hazardous waste shall come from the hazardous waste manager orappropriate designee.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, SAFETY & SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand the relevant requirements of the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) and RC-14001 certification.

  • Understand the importance of conformancetotheEnvironmental, Safety and Responsible Care Policies, procedures, and the requirements of theRCMS.

  • Understand thesignificantenvironmental impacts associated with their work activitiesand help ensurecontrols are in place to reduce oreliminatenegative impacts.

  • Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures.

  • Immediately report any accidents and releases per thecompanyescalation protocol.

  • Comply withall environmental,health,safety,and securityrules;Environmental, Safety, and Responsible Care policiesand programsestablishedby the company to the extent of training received.

  • Recognize that adhering to job responsibilities and proceduresregardingenvironmental, safety,security,and health is a condition of employment.

  • Contributeto continuous improvement of the plant environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care performance and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Basic mechanical skills related to the use of hand and power tools.

  • Basic knowledge of process control, refrigeration, boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, LOTO, and industrial safety practices.

  • Experienced with steam systems, liquid transfer systems, pump repair, valve repair, and confined space entry.

  • Current WisconsinDriverslicense.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in afast paced, constantly changing environment.

The successful candidate will have strengths in the following:

  • Previouselectrical work experiencea plus.

  • Water treatment experience preferred.

  • 1-3years experienceinchemicalmanufacturing environment.

  • 3-5 years maintenance experience or educational equivalent.

  • Ability to repair and install piping - welding experiencea plus.

  • Computer Skills and CMMS software experiencea plus.
