Job Summary

Produce spectral mosaic maps of the SPHEREx deep field using the data pipeline developed for the analysis of extragalactic background light fluctuations. Vary parameters in the mosaicking process that can affect the maps, such as channel filtering, removal and flagging of atmospheric signatures, edge glints, persistence, etc., and quantify their impact through statistical tests. Assist in assessing the impact of other systematics in the maps that may be identified.

Essential Job Duties
  • Learn and then operate the code used in the mosaicking pipeline.
  • Learn and execute statistical tests including power spectra and cross-spectra on various map combinations.
  • Present results to the larger team in weekly meetings and document progress in web postings.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in physics or astronomy.
  • Familiarity with coding, numerical methods, and statistics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in coding and statistics outside of coursework.
  • Prior experience working in a research environment.
  • Familiarity with cosmology and intensity mapping.

Hiring Range

$19.00 - $23.00 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
