JOB SUMMARY

Microbac Laboratories is seeking a Data Analytics & Information Management Intern to assist with data organization, reporting, data quality initiatives, and information management projects across the organization. This internship will provide exposure to enterprise data environments, business intelligence tools, data governance practices, and AI readiness initiatives.

This position is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields who are looking to gain meaningful professional experience while contributing to projects that have a direct impact on business operations.

This internship is remote. Please note that this is an unpaid position.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in identifying, cataloging, and organizing data sources across business systems and departments.
  • Help create and maintain data inventories, data dictionaries, and metadata documentation.
  • Review datasets for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and quality.
  • Assist with data cleansing, standardization, and validation efforts.
  • Organize structured and unstructured information to improve accessibility and searchability.
  • Support the development of reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Excel and Power BI.
  • Document business processes, data flows, and information relationships.
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to better understand how data is collected, stored, and utilized.
  • Assist with projects focused on improving reporting, analytics, and operational visibility.
  • Support data governance and information management initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects involving automation, business intelligence, and AI readiness efforts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, filtering, sorting, and basic data analysis.
  • Interest in data analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or information management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with large amounts of information while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, or similar information management platforms is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and business processes quickly.
