The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems and components that support Laerdal's Maternal & Nursing products and solutions. This role ensures high-quality, reliable system functionality throughout the product lifecycle while collaborating closely with crossfunctional engineering, production, and quality teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Managing mechanical design architecture, solutions and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
Ensuring product regulatory compliance and adherence to internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintaining accurate documentation of mechanical systems within PLM systems.
Technical decisionmaking for component selection, system design strategies, and design verification validation methods.
Providing technical guidance during product changes, upgrades, and quality improvements.
Communicating and collaborating with cross-functional teams, architecture leadership, and product teams

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mechanical Systems Product Development:
Design, develop and improve mechanical and mechatronic components, assemblies and systems based on product requirements
Define product and systems technical requirements
Create and maintain engineering documentation.
Troubleshoot and solve problems with strong root cause analysis and creative solutions.
Build, test and verify parts, assemblies and systems.
Research industry trends and apply state-of-the-art technology
Design for manufacturing, assembly, service, reliability, regulatory, and compliance
Support regulatory testing and certification of products/systems
Support industrialization of product design
Participate in change management activities to ensure timely and compliant implementation of product updates.
Evaluate and approve supplier components, support sourcing teams with technical input and vendor communication.
Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, field teams, and customer-facing groups as required.
Support manufacturing by resolving mechanical issues, improving design robustness, and optimizing component selection for supply reliability and cost.

Align and collaborate with system architecture teams
Collaborate and support Mechanical Engineering discipline within the company
Build and maintain strong professional network within company and industry

Plan and proactively manage project tasks
Communicate status to manager and project managers
Initiate and adhere to company and product development processes

Maximize organizational impact within role

Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles & mechatronic systems design
Experience with multidisciplinary hardware product development
Experience with system level design and cabling.
Knowledge of plastics injection molding and sheet metal fabrication.Curious, creative and passionate about innovation and problem solving.
Proficiency in CAD software preferably Siemens NX
Good at rapid prototyping and iterative product design
Experience with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers).
Experience with prototyping equipment and 3D printing.
Good rootcause analysis and structured problemsolving skills.
Experience or interest in electronics and microcontrollers
Preferably a practical person that likes to use their hands to make stuff

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree
Mechanical Engineering
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical skills is a plus.
3-10 year's experience
