About this unit 9 NW Medical is a fast-paced, 35-bed unit where nurses care for patients with a wide range of medical diagnoses. This diverse patient population provides strong opportunities for learning and skill development. The care environment on 9 North supports nurses in building clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and confidence in managing complex medical conditions. Collaboration is a key focus, with nurses working closely alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The unit also promotes professional engagement through an active Professional Nurse Council. Staff nurses are encouraged to participate in decision-making and contribute to unit improvements through a Shared Governance Model. Scope of work Under the direction of the nurse manager or other nursing leader, the assistant nurse manager has responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care in the department.
