- Earned doctorate in Nursing or a closely related field (PhD, DNP, EdD, or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution by time of appointment.
- Current or eligibility for unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in North Carolina by date of appointment.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate nursing students effectively.
- Evidence of scholarly or professional activity appropriate to a tenure-track appointment in nursing (e.g., research, scholarship of teaching and learning, clinical scholarship, or practice inquiry).
- Commitment to service at the department, college, and university level, consistent with expectations for tenure-track faculty.
- Ability to contribute to the mission of a comprehensive regional university serving a diverse and rural population.

MESON) is dedicated to advancing excellence in nursing education through its commitment to the tripartite mission of teaching, scholarship, and service. The school prepares highly competent, practice-ready graduates who contribute to improving health outcomes across diverse populations.
MESON places particular emphasis on addressing the healthcare needs of South Central North Carolina, with a focus on rural and underserved communities. Through innovative academic programs, strong clinical partnerships, and community engagement, the school supports the development of a responsive and sustainable healthcare workforce and contributes to the mission of the College of Health Sciences and the university.
Faculty within the school are engaged in high-quality instruction, scholarly activity, and service that collectively advance the mission of the College of Health Sciences and the university. The Chair of the McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing leads the school, and faculty and academic leaders report to them. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
Areas of potential teaching include undergraduate programs; teaching in graduate programs; and other assignments as determined by the chair of the School of Nursing. Responsibilities include assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design, providing classroom and clinical instruction to students, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and participating in School of Nursing governance activities. And all other duties as assigned.
Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have academic experience appropriate for rank and a minimum of two years of clinical experience. |

- Experience with accreditation processes and reporting, including familiarity with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) standards and North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements
- Evidence of sustained scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and/or grant activity
- Experience in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement aligned with accreditation standards
- Experience with faculty mentorship and development, including support for teaching effectiveness, scholarship
- Experience with student admissions, progression, retention, and student success initiatives in nursing education
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partnerships with healthcare agencies and community stakeholders
- Experience with online or hybrid program delivery and familiarity with state authorization requirements or distance education compliance
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
