Job Summary

The Director of International Student Admissions and Programs provides overall leadership and direction for the department, aligning with the University's mission and strategic goals. The Director is responsible for operational planning, fiscal and budget management, staffing, and development, and ensures University compliance. This position directs international recruitment strategies and oversees the enrollment and retention initiatives for international students, serving as the primary advocate for international students at Georgia Southern University.

This position is open to internally active employees of Georgia Southern University.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, vision and direction for the department
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO), advising and assisting international students on F-1 visa regulations and benefits
  • Serve as a University advocate for international students
  • Hire, train, manage and supervise staff in support of meeting department goals
  • Develop recruitment strategies and monitor yield to ensure new and continuing student enrollment goals are met, including the management of international undergraduate students' scholarship awards
  • Oversee institutional compliance with USG and all federal and state immigration regulations
  • Administer departmental budgets for operational and personnel expenses, including student activity fee funds
  • Support staff in the development of meaningful international programs, including international orientation, for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Maintain department website, social media channels, printed publications, and communication plans
  • Lead in the development, implementation, and assessment of efficient daily office processes, procedures, and policies
  • Monitor the academic progress of international students and implement support measures


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience
  • Experience recruiting international students
  • Experience creating and implementing programs for international students
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience recruiting international students


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Banner and Terra Dotta software
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as DSO or PDSO with knowledge of federal F-1 immigration regulations


Proposed Salary

$78,706 - $85,500

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
