This position works in the distribution area of the plant and is responsible for operating a shag (semi-tractor) truck with hydraulic lifts to move refrigerated trailers and tankers around a warehouse or storage yard.

Core Responsibilities
  • Using a semi-tractor, move refrigerated trailers and tankers around the plant yard and some to the cold storage warehouse across from the facility.

  • Perform routine light maintenance on equipment (cleanliness, pre-inspection, etc.).

  • Set and monitor unit temperatures according to individual customer requests.

  • Complete shag fee and wash out tickets.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Valid Class Driver's License.

  • Clean driving record.

  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.

  • General mechanical knowledge.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and efficiently and effectively manage time.

  • Bilingual (preferred) and able to work with a diverse workforce.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours; possibly to work overtime, 6 to 7 days per week during peak times, and holidays.

  • Plant environment will include outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in the production area.

  • Open and close trailers doors and seal (push and pull).

  • Able to crawl up and down a ladder to and from semi-tractor approximately 25 times or more per hour.

  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
