The Contract & Pricing Strategy Director role is responsible for leading the development, execution, and management of the company's strategic portfolio across all therapeutic areas and business units. This role partners with brand teams, marketing, market access, finance and executive leadership to drive long-term growth, optimize resource allocation, and ensure alignment of the portfolio with the company's vision, access and business objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Market Access, competitive landscape, government legislative, U.S. reimbursement, oncology vs retail dynamics, pharmaceutical strategy, portfolio management, and cross-functional leadership. Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
- Strategic Portfolio Leadership:
- Develop and maintain the company's portfolio strategy for both in-line and pipeline assets, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market opportunities.
- Lead portfolio prioritization processes, including evaluation of pipeline assets, business development opportunities, and lifecycle management.
- Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership on portfolio investments, divestitures, and risk mitigation.
- Support list pricing strategy for in-line and pipeline brands, management of ASP and reimbursement forecasting, and assessments of legislative changes/impacts across portfolio.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with R&D, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Finance teams to ensure integrated portfolio planning and execution.
- Facilitate cross-functional portfolio review meetings and governance forums.
- Strategize around various pricing, contracting and reimbursement implications for commercial and government payers, providers, and programs across the portfolio (Derm & Onc).
- Lead the development of brand pricing and contracting strategies leveraging industry knowledge, market insights, strategic vision and analytics to ensure optimal access and support brand objectives.
- Develop and present strategies and analytics for price and contract strategies.
- Understanding Government Pricing methodologies, calculations, Medicaid/340B and impacts that strategies may have within calculations and government contracts (Medicaid, 340B, FSS, ASP, IRA/MFN)
- Market and Competitive Analysis:
- Monitor industry trends, competitor pipelines, and market dynamics to inform portfolio decisions.
- Conduct scenario planning and forecasting to assess potential impact of external and internal changes.
- Provide competitive payer and provider contracting insights including innovative contracting approaches.
- Provide quantitative and qualitative input in the assessment of implications of US trends, government and health policy.
- Collaborate US Market Access and Global Value Access and Pricing Teams to share insights on US based trends.
- Business Development Support:
- Support evaluation of in-licensing, out-licensing, M&A, and partnership opportunities from a portfolio perspective.
- Lead due diligence and integration planning for strategic transactions.
- Performance Measurement:
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for portfolio health and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and present portfolio updates and recommendations to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of contract performance for all customer segments.
- Support Marketing, Brand Team, Product Strategy, Finance and Commercial Analytics on forecasting of Gross-to-Net GTN / discount rates for relevant products.
- Support internal staff and/or oversight of TPA(s) that manage contract management, chargebacks, rebates, data scrubbing and other operational requirements associated with current and future contracts
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency) * Minimum of 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with significant experience in strategy, portfolio management, Market Access/Payer Reimbursement or related roles. * Experience with dermatology therapies, oncology oral, IV and biologic agents required - in both large and biotech environment. * Advanced degree in lief sciences, business, or related field preferred (e.g. MBA, PhD). * Understanding of the US commercial and government healthcare and reimbursement environment. * In-depth knowledge and experience with government prices, such as AMP, BP, 340B, URA, NFAMP, other state reporting and validations of TPA calculations. * In-depth knowledge of managed care, state and federal reimbursement sectors. * Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders. * Strong analytical, financial modeling, project management. Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills * Ability to rapidly assimilate information, prioritize and manage multiple projects. * Experience in developing and managing people desired.
