Position Overview

SCI Technology is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead all software development activities across our Products Group, including ruggedized intercommunication systems, avionics LRUs, and mission-critical embedded electronics.

This role will modernize and accelerate how SCI develops software-introducing agile, data-driven, and AI-assisted workflows to deliver faster, more reliable results while maintaining strict compliance with DO-178C and AS9100 standards.

The Software Engineering Manager will build and lead a high-performing organization that leverages the latest tools in automation, continuous integration, and AI-based engineering assistance to improve quality, traceability, and team efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all software engineering teams supporting SCI's product lines, providing strategic direction and daily operational oversight.

Establish a modern software development framework emphasizing agility, accountability, and speed to delivery.

Implement AI-assisted tools to improve coding efficiency, requirements documentation,and verification accuracy.

Integrate CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps principles to streamline software release processes.

Introduce metrics dashboards and accountability frameworks to track velocity, code quality, defect rates, and milestone adherence.

Drive cultural transformation by embedding continuous learning, technical excellence, and ownership at all levels.

Ensure all software meets DO-178C and cybersecurity requirements, maintaining rigorous configuration and change control.

Collaborate closely with Systems, Hardware, and Test Engineering to enable rapid integration and test cycles.

Develop a scalable organization structure, balancing FTEs, contractors, and future automation capabilities.

Partner with PMO to deliver accurate cost-to-complete forecasts and transparent milestone tracking.

Serve as the technical authority for software design standards, tool selection, and reuse strategies across all SCI product lines.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

10+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years of team or technical management.

Proven experience leading software organizations developing embedded or safety-critical systems.

Proficiency in modern toolchains (GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, SonarQube, Docker, etc.) and AI-assisted development workflows.

Strong command of agile methodologies, requirements traceability, and quality metrics.

Experience driving measurable improvements in software delivery speed and quality.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of motivating teams and holding them accountable.

Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Technical Management.

Experience implementing AI-driven testing, documentation, or defect prediction within regulated environments.

Familiarity with DO-178C, DO-330 tool qualification, and automated verification frameworks.

Prior leadership in a multi-product defense electronics company.

PMP or Scrum Master certification.
