Employment Duration: 3 months (w/ potential for extension)

Note: This role will be 4 days on-site and allow for 1 day off-site

Campus Life Services is seeking a creative and highly organized Multimedia Communications Specialist to support multimedia storytelling, social media management, and internal communications initiatives. This role is ideal for a communications professional who enjoys creating engaging content across digital platforms and producing compelling stories that highlight people, programs, and services within the UCSF community.

The Multimedia Communications Specialist will develop short-form video content, social media campaigns, written features, photography, newsletters, and other multimedia communications that support employee engagement and organizational visibility. This position works closely with CLS leadership, internal partners, and centralized communications teams to execute strategic communications initiatives aligned with the CLS mission and brand.

This role requires regular onsite collaboration, interviews, photo/video shoots, and content creation activities across UCSF locations.


  • Create engaging multimedia content including short-form video, photography, written stories, newsletters, and social media content
  • Manage and grow social media channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Produce and edit video content for internal and external communications campaigns
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to develop strategic communications plans
  • Write feature stories, employee spotlights, campaign messaging, and organizational communications
  • Monitor social media and communications analytics to optimize engagement and performance
  • Support email marketing campaigns and digital communications initiatives
  • Ensure communications align with UCSF editorial, branding, and digital standards
  • Coordinate content calendars, campaigns, and storytelling initiatives across multiple CLS departments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience creating and managing content across social media platforms
  • Experience with video creation, editing, and multimedia storytelling
  • Strong writing, editing, and copywriting skills
  • Experience developing content for digital communications and marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of social media trends, audience engagement strategies, and emerging platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and collaboration skills
  • Experience using email marketing platforms and communications tools
  • Basic photography and videography skills including shooting and editing content

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience working in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or Squarespace
  • Experience with Canva or graphic design tools
  • Experience producing internal communications or employee engagement campaigns

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
