Job Summary

Under general direction of the Executive Director of Employee and Labor Relations (ELR), this position provides high-level executive, analytical, and project management support on matters that are highly sensitive, complex, and politically nuanced. The role serves as a central coordination point for ELR operations across both UC Davis Campus and UC Davis Health. This position independently manages executive priorities, ensures alignment and follow-through on key ELR initiatives, and provides strategic support in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, and workplace programs. The incumbent exercises a high degree of independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in managing competing priorities, synthesizing complex information, and supporting leadership decision-making.

The role functions as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, UC Office of the President, and campus and health system partners, and may act on behalf of the Executive Director in coordinating communications, projects, and deliverables. This position is expected to independently lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and provide strategic recommendations that influence ELR operations and leadership decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, public administration, or related field, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing high-level analytical, project management, or executive support in a complex organization
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting executive-level materials.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences.
  • High level of political acumen and ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in employee and/or labor relations, human resources, or higher education.
  • Knowledge of UC policies, collective bargaining agreements, and public sector employment practices.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience developing tracking systems, dashboards, or reporting tools.
