THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Social Casework Intern, you will assist our Children & Youth Services Agency in providing meaningful support for the wellbeing of children and families who live in Carbon County while continuing to enhance your education and professional development. Duties in this role include the following:

  • Continued Study: Engage in any and all training and learning objectives descried in the internship agreement between the County and your college or university of study
  • Professional Assistance: Accompany and assist professional staff when they visit with children and families and attend family meetings or appointments; take notes; arrange and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings; and prepare for and attend court hearings
  • Direct Support: Arrange for and supervise visitations with children and families; monitor progress; and help children and families connect with other supportive resources and services
  • Documentation: Prepare documents relating to case history, case management, and permanency planning; enter data; and help gather information for investigations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time, paid internship
  • Interns work approximately three days per week. Selected candidates' availability will determine their work schedules during our business hours 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Enrollment as a full time student in a bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of 15 credits in one of the listed majors.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
