Summary of Position The Director, Clinical Research and Evaluation leads Teladoc Health's clinical research agenda, focused on generating high-quality, publishable evidence from real-world data and prospective studies. This role helps strengthen our scientific reputation and ensures research insights are used to guide product development, care model improvement, and strategic decisions in virtual care. With a high degree of ownership, the Director, Clinical Research and Evaluation identifies key evidence needs, shapes study designs, partners with analytics on approach and interpretation, and leads dissemination through peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. The role also represents Teladoc Health with academic, regulatory, and scientific stakeholders, and works closely with executive and clinical leaders to translate findings into clear, decision-ready recommendations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Help develop and deliver Teladoc Health's clinical research roadmap, prioritizing work that supports both near-term credibility and longer-term evidence needs. Set and maintain standards for study methods, analytics, and publication-quality work across research efforts. Identify evidence gaps, shape research questions, and propose studies that are appropriately scoped and feasible. Oversee research governance (policies and SOPs) to support ethical conduct, regulatory compliance, and scientific integrity. Provide scientific oversight for study design, analytic plans, and interpretation, ensuring conclusions are well-supported and properly qualified. Coach and support research analysts and cross-functional partners on methods, measurement, and best practices. Review and approve research outputs intended for external audiences, ensuring they are accurate, clear, and publication-ready. Lead manuscript and abstract writing, reviewing and submission for publication, submit for communication at conferences, and contribute to scientific presentations and related dissemination. Translate complex results into clear evidence summaries and narratives for internal and external stakeholders. Build and maintain collaborations with academic institutions, investigators, and other research partners. Support thought leadership and help position Teladoc Health as a credible contributor to the virtual care evidence base. Partner with executive and clinical leadership to discuss what the evidence indicates, key limitations, and practical next steps.
Qualifications Expected for Position
Ph.D., Sc.D., DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, health services research, public health, health economics or related quantitative discipline. Or, MPH or MS in related disciplines and 5+ years of experience. Advanced expertise in statistical modeling and quantitative research methodologies with an emphasis on quasi-experimental designs and causal inference. Demonstrated experience collaborating with commercial and client stakeholders to develop, interpret, and present clinical research findings. Demonstrated experience analyzing large, complex healthcare datasets (claims, EHR, digital health, remote monitoring). Experience in the design and implementation of RCTs and prospective studies with strong understanding of regulatory compliance. Expertise in SQL, R, and Python. Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience translating complex analytics to diverse audiences. Exemplary cross-functional collaboration skills clinicians, quality and safety professionals, clinical researchers, data scientists, and commercial colleagues. Demonstrated experience in clinical research, with several peer-reviewed publications as first and senior author. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex clinical concepts and health outcomes data to non-clinical stakeholders. Proficiency with virtual care platforms and digital health technologies. Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing multiple competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing and conducting implementation science studies (e.g., implementation evaluation, adoption, and sustainment). Experience in designing and conducting formal quality improvement studies for publication with emphasis on quality improvement analytics and methods such as statistical process control (SPC) and planned experimentation / factorial design Track record of grant writing or securing research funding. Established network within academic medicine or digital health research communities. Familiarity with national quality frameworks and measurement standards (e.g., HEDIS, NCQA, CMS quality programs). Passion for advancing data-driven, evidence-based virtual care.
The base salary range for this position is$160,000- $190,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2026.Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.This information is applicable for all full-time positions. We follow a Flexible Vacation Policy, intended for rest, relaxation, and personal time. All time off must be approved by your manager prior to use. You will also receive 80 hours of Paid Sick, Safe, and Caregiver Leave annually. This applies to full-time positions only.
