What You'll Do

SourceAmerica is seeking a Business Development Representative to join the Growth team. This position is responsible and accountable for the successful identification of new business opportunities, including development and implementation of business strategies and plans; market research and analysis; business and technical proposal writing; and corporate database management. Maintains effective and visible business relationships with government agencies; provides advice and direct assistance in contracting, quality systems and supply chain, life-cycle management of projects within major lines of business to sustain and expand the growth of jobs and projects on the Procurement List (PL) of the AbilityOne Program.

*Due to the requirements of this position, the ideal candidate must be based in the West Coast region, specifically Arizona, California, Washington (Seattle area), Oregon, Nevada, or Utah, and be located near a major airport. The role also requires the ability to drive and rent a car, as travel to Department of Defense installations is required and rideshare services are not permitted.

How You Will Spend Your Day ...

  • Identify potential business opportunities and new lines of business through frequent, meetings, presentations and conversations with government acquisition officials and program office/end-user representatives.
  • Increase jobs for people with significant disabilities by adding new federal service requirements to the PL and by expanding market penetration of existing business lines.
  • Manage actions involved with capture management process, PL addition and life-cycle management, including compliance with the statutory, regulatory and administrative processes of the AbilityOne Program. Enable transition of feasible business opportunities to account managers; provide support and assistance for development, PL addition and life-cycle performance.
  • Perform strategic and tactical research and analysis for existing and potential services lines of business.
  • Responsible for business planning, concepts, metrics and market projections. Contribute to the SourceAmerica Strategic Business Plan and facilitate its execution.
  • Develop technical and business proposals for opportunities as required.
  • Obtain support for the AbilityOne Program through professional relationship marketing directed toward Federal agencies' senior management, program and project managers, and acquisition and contracting officials.
  • Serve as SourceAmerica's focal point for knowledge, information and subject matter expertise related to assigned government procuring activities, major accounts or line(s) of business. Responsible for knowledge of organizational structure, key officials, operations, political climate, relevant metrics, major programs and overall coordination of AbilityOne projects for assigned government agencies and accounts.
  • Ability to mentor teammates or work independently with little guidance
  • Arrange, coordinate and provide participation and AbilityOne presentations for conferences, trade shows, exhibits, meetings and training events.
  • Business travel is required for this position based on business need.

Salary Range

The salary for this position falls in a range between $105,000 - $120,000 depending on your experience and geographic location in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of strategic sales management and business development experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
  • Prior experience in working with commercial accounts or federal Prime Contractors, and a strong base of knowledge related to the commercial non-federal market.
  • B2B and B2G experience.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and close high-value deals.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and multitasking skills.
  • Strong proficiency with CRM systems and sales/marketing tools.
  • 25% to 35% business travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications ...

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Department of Defense or Federal contracting experience.
  • Demonstrated results in progressive business development.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiation and customer satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of Federal acquisition policies and regulations, including the AbilityOne Program.
  • Experience with long sales cycles and Federal contracting.
