Overview
Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As the Senior Director of Data Center Operations (DC Ops) on the U.S. Airgap Cloud (AGC) team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government. You will lead a unique, mission critical, highly regulated DCOps and Program Management organization spanning the U.S. geography focused on delivering operational excellence to our customers. You will interact and maintain relationships with various authorities and partners across the industry. You will use keen business acumen and financial management skills to manage operating costs effectively, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and ecological responsibility. Interpersonal awareness, ability to navigate ambiguity, and communication skills will be pivotal in bringing your program management, technical abilities, and leadership experiences to a whole new level in supporting Microsoft's success. Responsibilities
- Empowering a culture of safety, security, and compliance, respect, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of datacenter activities.
- Accountability for theongoing ITand Critical Environment (CE)support for all service linesensuring the on-time and defect-free delivery of customer capacity within our SLA commitments.
- Responsibility for theplanning and delivery of all supporting physical infrastructure, logistics, andtheresources required to meet anticipated growth.
- Financial management of portfolio includingthedevelopment of detailed budgets, forecasts, and management of operational and capital spend.
- Management and oversight of all vendor/partner contracts and relationshipsincludingleased-facilitylandlords, IT and CE service providers, and other support teams.
- Overseeing secure and compliant logistics, asset destruction, and asset management services and programs across the AGC DC Ops portfolio.
- Overseeing AGC datacenter service engineering focused on optimizing IT services' time on task and resolving blocked tickets with AGC product/software engineering groups.
- Regularly meeting with AGC customers to present AGC and datacenter capabilities, services, and concepts of operations for either approval or security compliance review purposes.
- Delivering learning and development and training programs for your AGC DC Ops staff.
- Overseeing an AGC datacenter controls systems engineering program that incorporates and ensures compliant patching in accordance with Microsoft and customer requirements.
- Learn, live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.
- Leadership, management, coaching, and development of Microsoft full-time employeesacrossdatacenters in your program.
- Collaborating and coordinating with multiple internal business groups to ensure the successful delivery of service levels.
- Analyzing production operations and initiating corrective actions to ensure operational stability.
- Initiating and establishing quality standards and projects for the AGC DC Ops team and managing those initiatives through to completion.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Qualification or equivalent AND 10+ years experience of mission-critical service management (e.g., providing IT services, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, military, or managing physical operations in an IT and/or critical environment infrastructure)
- 3+ years people management experience.
Other Requirements: Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirementsare requiredpre-offer and post-hirefor this role. Failure tomaintainor obtain theappropriate U.S.Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
- Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Citizenship & Citizenship Verification:This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years' experience supporting or operating in mission-critical, 24x7x365 production environments.
- 5+ years' experience in leading, directly managing, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees across multiple disciplines,platforms, cultures, and geographies.
- 5+ years' experience in leading operations in high security and highly regulated U.S. Government and/or defense contractor environments.
- Experience leading operations in U.S. government or government Cloud Service Provider datacenters.
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, Business Management, Accounting, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent experiences
- Experienceandsolid understanding ofemploymentlaws and employmentterms &conditions
- Working knowledge ofdatacenterinfrastructures(e.g. Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling, etc.)
- Backgroundinbuildingdesignandconstruction principles and/or management
- Supply chain, asset management or logistics backgroundandexperience
- Awareness of IT Service Operations fundamentals and principles. (ITIL, MOF, OLA/SLA, CSI, etc.)
- Previous experience with MS Cloud Services and Platforms (e.g. Windows Azure, Office 365, etc.)
Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $140,200 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $185,600 - $306,000 per year.
