Job Description

Position Summary: Oversees heat treatment forgings and furnaces, which include conversions and finish good forgings.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for the supervision of employees in the Heat Treat Department, carrying out directions from Heat Treat Department Supervisor. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reporting complaints and resolving problems.

In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures. In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
  • Possesses thorough understanding of controlling and monitoring all heat treat furnaces as well as their limits and capabilities.
  • Develops and maintains production schedule and Heat Treat backlogs.
  • Oversees furnace load preparation, dependent upon material type and quantity allowable in furnace; delegates personnel to perform furnace light up and monitoring for heat treatment furnaces.
  • Verifies piece count, product identity and straightness and flatness of parts before and after material is heat treated; conducts hardness inspection of material.
  • Over sees cold and hot straightening if necessary.
  • Observes and reports machine and equipment malfunctions and orders adjustments or repairs.
  • Maintains time and enters Daily Production Reports, training records, and maintains Heat Treat backlog.
  • Assists with training new employees and has the background and ability to perform the job requirements of all the heat treat workers within the department.
  • Assist with Tooling inventory by tracking tooling conditions and develop tooling management to continuously track the physical health, usage, and lifecycle of heat treat equipment to prevent failures and optimize performance.
  • Daily upload of racking photos to maintain production and certification.
  • Create heat treat best practices HTBP for heat treat racking instructions create new or update as needed.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $26.00 to $32.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
