I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION




Job Description Summary:
This Media Archives Technician position will assist the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Labor History Archivist to rehouse and photograph over 3,000 film and video items.

Responsibilities:

  • Transfer audiovisual materials from legacy storage containers into archival housing. Ensuring all containers are appropriately labeled and barcoded.
  • Create baseline metadata about carrier types and conditions.
  • Generate container-level records and item-level records within the archival content management system.
  • Capture high-quality reference photographs of audiovisual carriers using a copystand and camera; manage and organize resulting digital files according to project specifications.


Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge handling unique/rare/fragile material and or audiovisual media.
  • Exceptional accuracy in data entry and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and maneuver archival containers that may way up to 50 lbs.
