Job Purpose:

The Paralegal provides litigation and administrative support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado. This role supports civil cases involving the federal government and assists with case preparation, legal research, document management, and trial support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage large volumes of information in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, organize, and manage large volumes of emails, documents, and case materials
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools to support case management
  • Gather and compile information, including agency records, court records, and other public documents
  • Analyze and summarize legal and factual materials, including pleadings, court orders, transcripts, and case files
  • Draft memoranda and summaries for attorney review
  • Track and manage court-imposed deadlines to ensure timely filings and compliance
  • Coordinate with federal agencies to locate, collect, and organize case-related information
  • Conduct factual and legal research and prepare written analyses to support litigation efforts
  • Provide litigation support for briefs, hearings, and presentations, including:

    • Preparing exhibits, charts, and visual materials
    • Assisting with document production and formatting
    • Supporting use of litigation technology and tools


  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing evidence and marking exhibits
  • Provide technical support for document handling, including scanning, duplicating, and formatting materials
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of civil litigation efforts


Education & Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; Paralegal certificate is a plus
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant legal or paralegal experience, preferably in litigation
  • Strong writing, organizational, and computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Experience reviewing and organizing large volumes of documents is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of legal research methods and document review processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with litigation support tools, databases, or case management systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
