| Essential Job Duties |
The Coordinator of New Student Programs creates, plans, and implements on-going transition related programming for students in their first years at NC State, including Welcome Weeks and the University Common Experience. Additionally, they will be providing leadership for administrative functions within the department and supporting departmental initiatives, such as New Student and Family Orientation and the Summer Start program.
The Coordinator of New Student Programs is responsible for the following:
Note: Responsibility percentages are averages and may shift during times of peak programming throughout the year.
Transition Program Development & Implementation
- Creating and implementing year-round initiatives and programs related to the success of first-year and transfer students
- Providing leadership for the coordination and implementation of departmental programming during the university-wide fall and spring Welcome Weeks
- Planning and implementing a university-wide Common Experience initiative
- Supporting co-curricular programming opportunities during the Summer Start program
Administrative Support
- Managing the day-to-day of the office, including serving as primary staff for departmental email account and supervising office assistants
- Coordinating all related logistics regarding physical office space, including maintaining office organization and supplies
- Processing all temporary personnel appointments and payroll for departmental student employees
- Managing day-to-day accounting duties and budgetary functions, including monthly reconciliation and reconciling departmental budgets
- Coordinating the purchase of all program supplies and equipment, including reconciling unit department purchase cards for staff
Orientation Program Support
- Creating and maintaining the orientation registration system and attendance records, including reports for campus partners
- Providing on-site support at orientation programs, including orientation check-in, generating associated materials, etc.
- Providing detailed room overview and setups for all programs associated with New Student Programs to respective parties
- Collaborating with the Assistant Director on Orientation programs run by the office
Communication & Student Staff
- Collaborating with department staff on marketing and communication initiatives (website, social media, etc.) in relation to their programs
- Providing on-site supervision to student staff as they assist with event implementation
- Assisting in the recruitment, selection, and training of New Student Programs student staff

| Other Responsibilities |
- Support department and university programming to assist students in their transition and success, such as admitted and confirmed student events, New Student and Family Orientation, and Summer Start, among others
- Assist with general office customer service, including phone, email and texting support
- Engage in a practice of ongoing assessment of programs and initiatives in conjunction with New Student Programs staff
- Serve as a liaison to campus committees and representing office at regional or national conferences
- Work some required evenings and weekends with longer hours during peak programming
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the department leadership

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs administration, or similar field
|
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrated use of innovative ideas in programming for new college students
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow staff members and campus partners
- Demonstrated experience in supervising and training student staff
- Excellent interpersonal communication, facilitation, and writing skills
- Theoretical and practical understanding of student development
- Experience with University policies, financial operations and personnel functions
