Are you interested in using your
GIS and data analysis skills to improve railroad safety and efficiency while gaining invaluable real-world work experience? This exciting summer internship opportunity is administered by NC State University's Institute for Transportation Research and Education, but you will be working directly with staff at the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Rail Division.
Specific tasks and skillsets include:
* Create, analyze, report, convert, or transfer data using ArcGIS software
* Design, program, or model
GIS applications and/or procedures related to railroad crossing data, engineering projects, studies, crashes, and railroad incidents
* Collect, query, analyze, reconcile, and update rail crossing database
* Field work and data gathering activities involving railroad/highway related projects

GIS, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Computer/Industrial Engineering, or
Other Applied Sciences |

* Skills using ArcGIS or other
GIS software and the associated tools and packages.
Exposure to Arcade, Python and
SQL programming languages
* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Knowledge of Excel formulas and logical constructs to sort/filter datasets
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills
* Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail |
